the price of a cue has no relvevance to how well a person plays in the big sceme of the game , a cue that feels good to the player and has a good hit is what you should look for. if looks are what you want, viking has been around a long time, most lucasi cues have decals instead of real inlays, it just depends on which cue you have, best to get the Blue book of cues to see the value of your cue. sues with different taper shafts and different type of tips make a huge difference in play

I would use a viking because u have more grip with the viking than with a Lucais.

I have owend several types of cues. Excalibur, Meucci, and I shoot with a Lucasi currently. I used my Excalibur for 10 years because it felt good. Won me many a tourney with her. The Meucci had a "ping" sound. Too woody and delicate for me. For me, the Lucasi is between the Meucci and Excalibur. Price range is not important, but the feel of the cue to the player is important. Not brand. You can choose a brand, but finding the comfortable feel is the "shopping" part you have to do. I can gaurantee that both viking, and lucasi would have a comfortable feeling cue for you. Be patient and invest wise.

If you're comfortable shooting with you're McDermott you may not like either one. I suggest trying out the cue if possible. The thing about cues is, either you like it or you don't. Either you're comfortable with it, or you're not. Becoming a better player isn't in the cue. The fact that it's comfortable and it plays good is what's important. When I try out cues I try not to look at the name, I go by feel. By the way, you can put 2 different tips on the same exact cue and, after you hit the cue-ball, you will think they are 2 different cues.
