There’s many that are just as good as a Meucci for less. Cheap McDermott and Viking($ 140). Cuetec (only with SST shaft) $ 95. I’m sure a lot of pool snobs will say that Cuetec is not a quality que because it has Fiberglass on top of the wood, but Allison Fisher dominated women’s pool for over a decade using her stock $ 140 stick (only modified the length 2″). Earl Strickland beat the world’s best player using a $ 100 Cuetec. There are many others as well. It’s preference and there are some bad ones out there too. Nick Varner makes a good stick, but I hate the taper. You might love the taper, so it’s up to you. Falcon is also excellent at $ 150.
Beware, some of the “made by McDermott” I hear are not like the real McDermotts, so by aware of that.

If you are looking to replace your cue with an American made cue like the Meucci – McDermott is one of the last high production companies still in business. Another alternative is Viking who recently closed but there are still some cues available through dealers. There are also some good custom cue manufacturers but those of course are much more expensive.
Many good imported cues are available such as Cuetec, Varner, Rage and McDermott’s Star, Element, and Lucky lines; but my favorite import is the Lucasi line. I believe that Cue and Case is doing more R&D for cues than any other importer at this time…. And it shows.
I recommend visiting different billiard dealers to see what they have in stock so that you can actually shoot with the different brands. I have too many friends and customers who order a cue online, only to find that they don’t like the way it feels.
Good Luck in your search!
